9 Kilbrandon Cottages is a delightful self-catering cottage providing an escape from the stresses of everyday life. It is a great place to unwind and an ideal base for exploring, on foot or by car, the historic Slate Islands and, further afield, the many attractions of Argyll. The Balvicar 9 hole golf course is on your doorstep and there are plenty of wonderful walks and cycle trips on the island - we provide details in the cottage of suggested walks. The area is renowned for birdwatching and there are boat trips to explore the local marine wildlife - seals, basking sharks, dolphins and even whales!
Oban with its shops, restaurants and ferry links to the Hebrides is a short drive away, with the majestic mountains of Appin and Glencoe a little further beyond. Many of Argyll's glorious gardens are also within easy reach while, to the south, the historic Kilmartin Glen, with its magnificent standing stones, and the Crinan Canal can be visited - another ideal venue for cycling and walking.
Back at the cottage, the south-west facing lawned garden is a real suntrap, with lovely sunsets, and is equipped with a bench and table and chairs. The cottage is warm and cosy in winter, and bright and airy in summer.
We are always on hand to welcome you, along with a welcome tray with tea and home baking, and also local free range eggs and a bottle of wine. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. To help overseas visitors, one of us speaks French and German.
