Noddsdale is a house which has evolved over the years and has grown from a modest farmhouse to an Arts and Crafts country house. The architect James Miller was responsible for some of the work carried out at the beginning of the last century.
Just 2 miles from the centre of Largs, which is a busy town in the summer, Noddsdale is tucked away and offers a peaceful, restful holiday destination. It is well placed for days out to the islands of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae with many interesting gardens, houses, castles and museums to visit. There are many golf courses within an hour by car.
There are many different restaurants and cafes locally, including at Largs Yacht Haven, which is a very busy marina to the south of the town. Kelburn Country Centre is just across the road from the marina and has much to offer the visitor, such as The Graffitti Project.
If you prefer to spend time at Noddsdale, then you can walk up the hill behind the house and enjoy the spectacular views. The gardens and woodland around the house can also be explored and you have your own area for sitting in the sun. You are welcome to use the tennis court, but please bring your own racquets, appropriate footwear and tennis balls!
As there is a flight of ten steps to enter the property, it is unsuitable for disabled or young children. We welcome children over the age of 10. All linen and towels are provided and there is a shared washing machine and tumble drier in the old laundry.

The kitchen/dining room has all that you will need for your holiday, including a dishwasher, microwave, fridge with an ice box and a split level oven. There are a few basics in the cupboard such as sugar, coffee, tea to get you started and some olive oil, balsamic vinegar and flour. We will also pop a little milk in the fridge for your arrival. There is no need to bring dishtowels etc as they are provided. Just bring your own food. | | |
The sitting room is most unusual with a pitched wooden ceiling and is full of character. There is a lovely view over the rock garden and out to the sea beyond. Almost two rooms, there is a double sofa bed as well as the sofa and chairs you would expect, which gives flexibility if more than one couple are staying. You will find a television, video, telephone, for which there is an honesty box and if you bring your own laptop, wifi should be up and running for you in 2008. Heating throughout the property is electric and included in the price. If you wish, the double bed in the bedroom can be turned into two singles, offering maximum flexibility. |
