The 4 star graded Hayloft offers a complete escape or a luxury base for exploring the Lake District. The Hayloft sleeps 7 (there is also a lounge-based sofa bed) in a sumptuous ground floor four-poster double, a pretty upstairs double and a triple sleeper (4ft double & 3ft single).
The Hayloft features a Jacuzzi corner bath and downstairs power shower room; a relaxing garden room overlooking enclosed lawn, borders and stone stable (now a games & laundry room) and an upstairs galleried lounge capturing views of Morecambe Bay.
All your comforts are considered with the provision of bed linen, towels, a Welcome Tray, soap and toilet rolls. There are 2 TVs with freeview, a DVD player, lots of games and books and the house is decorated with interesting pictures and antiques. We also welcome pets for £10 per pet per stay.
The Hayloft is located in Allithwaite, a pretty village, within 2 miles of Cartmel and its famous 11th Century Priory, steeplechase racecourse and celebrated Sticky Toffee Pudding Shop. A short walk along the Cumbria Coastal Way (near the doorstep) and you reach the Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands, its ornamental gardens, promenade and tea rooms.
Within 8 miles of Lake Windermere, it is a short scenic lakeside drive from Bowness-on-Windermere and the heart of the Lakes. Good roads lead to the market towns of Kendal and Ulverston or the nearby Yorkshire Dales.

The kitchen is simply stunning, a mix of bespoke oak cupboards and black granite worktops. It is very well equipped with cooking utensils and crockery and features a De Dietrich induction hob, pyrolitic oven, dishwasher and fridge. It has a country-style Belfast sink, oak dresser, tall larder and local Burlington slate floor and is located next to the farmhouse kitchen for sociable cooking and entertaining. | | |
The Hayloft features 2 living areas. It has an upstairs galleried lounge with window seats for views over larch trees to Morecambe Bay. It has a Woodburner-style gas-fired stove for instant heat and a limestone fireplace. With 2 sofas (one is a sofa bed), a freeview tv and DVD and lots of lamps, it is a cosy room at night.
The Garden Room is like a conservatory with a slate roof and full central heating making it usable all year. There is a sofa and two chairs and antique pitch pine dresser with lots of books and toys. It overlooks the lovely garden and is a tranquil haven. | | |
There is a gorgeous Jacuzzi corner bath in the tongue and groove lined upstairs bathroom, painted in Farrow and Ball Sage Green. The downstairs Power Shower is a pentangle shape for extra room. There are permanently-heated towel rails and soft fluffy towels. |
