Watersports feature prominently in the area and dinghies, canoes and windsurfers can be hired at Carsington watersports centre. Day tickets are available for trout fishing including boat hire if required. The house is in an excellent position for cyclists (cycle hire available) or ramblers to take advantage of the many trails and all the striking scenery of the southern Peak National Park – and there's a pub/restaurant, serving good food, within easy walking distance, which is willing to reserve tables for guests.
Wirksworth and Ashbourne (the Gateway to Dovedale) are a few minutes drive.
