The chalet is built of solid log in the same way as has been used for many years throughout Scandinavia. It has central heating, and has a kitchen with cooker, Microwave oven, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. It also has a colour TV, video recorders and DVD player. There is also a wireless and CD player. All heating, lighting, towels, and bedding (except cot bedding) are included.
Riding: Riding school 200meters from house. Bathing: Sandyhills Bay is a few minutes walk.
Bird-watching: There are wildfowl and sea birds along the coast from Caerlaverock to Ailsa Craig in the Clyde. We are only three miles from the RSPB sanctuary at Mersehead.
Cycling: Quiet roads and miles of forestry tracks make this ideal cycling country. Part of the 'Seven Stanes' cycle route.
Fishing: There is a wide variety of sea, river and loch fishing. Barend Loch is stocked with carp.
Golf: There are several courses within easy reach. Colvend 18 hole course is under a mile away. The famous Southerness championship course is about 10 miles away.
Sailing: Kippford has a flourishing sailing community and is the Headquarters of the Solway Yacht Club.
Walking: This is a lovely part of the world for walkers. From the Southern Upland Way to gentle coastal pathways between villages.
Shopping: There is a village shop at Colvend, more shops at Dalbeattie and larger shops at Castle Douglas which is 16 miles away.

The living/dining room is 24 foot by 12foot and has the sitting area at one end with the chairs, TV, and small electric log fire at one end and the dining table and chairs at the other end. The windows open out on to a veranda and look out over the loch.
