Set well-off the road with private parking, The Woodhouse is south- facing with two terraces and a garden with garden furniture and barbecue. One of the oldest domestic properties in the area and dating from the early C15th, the moat provides a wonderful focus for wildlife. There is always something to see, from snowdrops and woodpeckers in winter, massed daffodils and apple blossom in spring, flag irises, waterlilies, bats, buzzards and damselflies in summer to orchards bursting with fruit in the autumn.
There are many things to do in the area - walks from the house or walks further afield along the nearby Malvern Hills, and a range of other outdoor activities such as golf and horse riding. There are racecourses at Cheltenham, Hereford and Ludlow.
There are houses and gardens to visit, and the RHS garden shows are held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern every Spring and Autumn. Visit the Marcher castles, churches and cathedrals - Hereford Cathedral houses the famous Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.
Herefordshire is becoming well-known for the wealth of its local produce, from Herefordshire beef to ciders, perry and wines, ice creams, cheeses and the famous Tyrell's crisps. There is a Food Festival in October and many small producers and farmers' markets to find, with good restaurants and pubs nearby. The nearest pub with restaurant is our local The Oak, a mere five minute walk.
Shop at Royal Worcester, go sightseeing or just relax; the choice is yours.

The large farmhouse kitchen has a replica medieval encaustic tiled floor and oak units specially designed to echo the architectural features of the property. The Aga is the heart of the kitchen with Aga pans and recipe book, with a separate electric oven and two gas hobs, one with four burners and one with two. A large fridge and separate larder provide plenty of storage space. Other equipment includes a microwave, dishwasher, food processor, electric kettle and toaster. An antique dining table and chairs provide seating for eight, though there is crockery, cutlery and glassware enough for 16. There is another table and chairs in the dining room which can dine up to 16.
Comfortably furnished with two Knole sofas and armchairs on a rug-covered stone floor with underfloor heating, this is the perfect place to sit in front of the large woodburing stove and play games, listen to CDs or watch a DVD or video. Original oak beams and heavy fabrics give an opulent feel. You can sit in the oriel window overlooking the moat to watch the heron arrive early in the morning or the moorhens bring up their family among the waterlilies. During the summer, a door can be opened to enable guests to wander with their champagne onto the terrace where they can sip it in the rays of the setting sun reflected in the waters of the moat. Jasmine grows over the door.
A downstairs snug contains a single bed which can be used as a bedroom if required. It also has a TV/DVD.
The dining room has a large fireplace used for storing logs and large dining table and chairs.
A utility room has washing machine and tumble dryer. Front hall and downstairs loo. |
