Warkworth Railway Station was built in 1847 (NER then LNER in 1923) and the East Coast Main Line is still in use. The station was closed to the public in 1962 during the 'Beeching' cuts, a disaster for a rural area such as this.
The Waiting Rooms were originally for the Gentlemen and Ladies who in Victorian times could not be seen to sit together - the Gentlemen's Waiting Room is now the lounge, the Ladies Waiting Room is now the bedroom. Alledgedly the Duke of Northumberland used the Gentlemen's Waiting Room, confirmed by the current Duke's Household Controller.
Both Waiting rooms had a platform which have now been converted into the kitchen and shower room, retaining the original features.
We designed the cottage in the style that we felt would be the most comfortable and agreed that the bed should be our biggest investment - we both hate not being able to sleep on holiday! The bedroom has a new Original Bed Company Brass bed with a luxury mattress and soft egyptian bed linen.
The platform for the bedroom is now the ensuite shower room.
The kitchen is fully equipped with extras like cookery books, and a slow cooker if you go out on a long walk and want to come back to a hot meal.
The cottage is on our central heating system and you also have a wood burning stove in the lounge, firelighters/wood is provided, and it is multifuel so you can burn sea coal from the beach if you wish.
We are centrally based for all county attractions.

Kitchen
The kitchen was the Gentlemen's Waiting Room platform and has a hot water heater for instant hot water, electric heater, electric oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, radio, microwave etc. I have put a picnic basket and cook books for your use during your holiday. The windows are dressed with blinds for your privacy.
We supply a free welcome pack for your arrival.
Living Room
The lounge was the Gentleman's Waiting room and is now furnished with a three seater leather sofa and throw, a high backed leather armchair and throw, a gateleg table and chairs for your dining needs and a plasma tv with a DVD player. You have both overhead and side lighting, plus the woodburning stove. The room is very sunny and the windows are dressed with both blinds and curtains.
