Southwold is famous for its award winning millenium pier, the promenade and beach huts, its individual shops , its quality hotels and restaurants, its art galleries, its common and greens and makes an ideal base for not only a traditional British sea side holiday, but also to explore the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast. Birdwatchers, ramblers, golfers, sailors, artists, music and art lovers, cyclists etc. will find that Suffolk has much to offer them all.
For bird lovers, Minsmere bird reserve is nearby , the hen reedbeds , just over 1mile away. Pick up the 'Suffolk Coast and Heaths' free newspaper from the tourist office in Southwold High Street for details of guided walks..
Buckenham House Gallery in Southwold High Street and Serena Hall's Gallery are 'must visits' if original art and quality crafts interest you. Both show contemporary work of very high standard.
Music abounds in Suffolk - Snape Maltings being the most famous of the nearby Concert Halls. Again the tourist office will have all current details.
Southwold Electric Picture Palace is a wonder to behold. The 68 seat cinema boasts a rising 'Tiny Wurlitzer' cinema organ, a circle, a kiosk, usherettes and a commissionaire!!! making a ' night at the picture' a very special experience .
Linen can be hired if required.
If you decide to also hire our beach hut on Southwold promenade and so be able to breakfast by a, hopefully sparkling sea, this could be the best value holiday you have e
