Mill Cottage is a traditional stone-built cottage, attached to our own house which originally formed another 3 cottages dating back to 1830. It has been fully renovated inside, and has a 4 star grading. It is set close to the A701 road, but overlooks our 36 acres of small-holding, garden and fields with hills beyond. The ground floor has been designed for wheelchair access, and is entirely tiled throughout. From the family kitchen, there is access to a downstairs bedroom and a separate wet-room.
Visitors find it ideally placed for exploring the beautiful Borders countryside, or for easy access into Edinburgh with all its attractions (30 minute drive) or even to other parts of Scotland via the City By-Pass.
There are lots of local activities for all ages - golf and tennis at nearby historic West Linton, lovely country walks, Icelandic pony-trekking, mountain-biking at Glentress, dry-skiing at Hillend. De Vinci fans can visit Rosslyn Chapel. Or stay at home to enjoy free fishing in our half mile stretch of the River Lyne.
One big attraction, is our very friendly collie, who is always delighted to play with visitors or accompany walks across the field to the river.
The cottage has full central-heating, with a wood-burning stove in the upstairs sitting-room for those who enjoy a real fire.

The upstairs sitting-room is cosy and comfortable, with leather sofa and armchairs to seat 5, and a beautiful view out across the countryside to the hills. There is a colour TV and DVD/Video player, with a selection of DVDs and videos in the bookcase, along with books and games to suit adults and children. | | |
There is a wet-room with shower downstairs, and a bathroom upstairs with a second shower.
The upstairs double bedroom is spacious, with plenty space for including a separate folding bed if wanted.
The downstairs sunny twin bedroom, has an easy chair and TV in the bay window space. The second bed can be easily removed for easier wheelchair access. |
