Hafan

HAFAN is in The Joys of Life Country Park in the Ogwen Valley of Central Snowdonia. The park includes gardens, a lake, woodlands, with bird-hide and a 5-van CL caravan park (in a distant corner). It is well placed in Snowdonia and yet is not far from magnificent beaches and historic castles. WALKS A pleasant three mile walk or bicycle ride along a track and a lane leads to Lake Ogwen between the Carneddau and Glyder ranges of mountains. From there, popular high level walks lead up to the summits of both ranges and also to favourite rock-climbing slabs. There are low level walks and bicycle rides in the vicinity, including the North Wales National Cycle path. There are classic mountain-bike forest rides in Betws y Coed, some 15 miles away. COASTAL FEATURES Two photogenic bridges cross the Menai Straits to the beaches and coastal path of Anglesey. Sea fishing is also available as are most water sports. OTHER PLACES OF INTEREST Well preserved historic castles can be visited in Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Conwy. Sites along The Pilgrims Way to Bardsey Island, National Trust properties and Gardens (including Bodnant) can be visited. Trips can be arranged on several narrow gauge railways through spectacular scenery, including the rack railway up to the top of Snowdon.

Kitchen

The kitchen/diner has work tops at standard height but food storage, refrigerator, freezer, dish washer and washing machine are below the worktop and easily accessed from a wheelchair. The cooker is 4 ring electric with a single oven and there is also a separate microwave oven. The kitchen is intermediate between the lounge and the master bedroom and has level access to and from both.

Living Room

The original thick stone walls have been left uncovered and the room is high-vaulted. The floor is oak laminate. There is a flat panel, free-view digital TV and a DVD player. Access is by means of a 1:12 ramp to a patio and then level access from the patio to the lounge and all the ground floor rooms. All doors are wide enough for wheel chairs. An oak staircase ascend to a gallery that looks over the lounge and leads to a twin en-suite bedroom on the first floor.
