The Old Boathouse is in the grounds of a Grade II Manor House and it is situated in 30 acres of private woodland and half a mile from the main road. The beach at Milford on Sea is one and a half miles and the New Forest is 5 miles away. Lymington with excellent shops is 3 miles. The village of Milford on Sea is a mile from the house and it has three pubs, 3 restaurants, a wet fish shop, a fish and chip shop, two butchers and a post office to mention a few. There is a car ferry to the Isle of Wight from Lymington. Bournemouth and Southampton are 16 and 22 miles away.
