The Compasses cottage is next to The Compasses Pub which specialises in Italian food. The nearest small town ‘’Clare’’ is 4 miles away where there is a number of pubs, Chinese and Indian restaurants and a Co-op and quality butchers among other shops There are a number of lovely walks around the village which is also on the official Clare to Bury St Edmunds walk. All around there are some of Suffolk’s prettiest Villages, Lavenham, Kersey, Cavendish and historic Long Melford where the TV series Lovejoy was filmed. and which is now an antique hunters dream. Newmarket with it’s famous horse racing course, Bury St Edmunds with it’s beautiful Abbey gardens And Sudbury with Gainsbourough’s house are all only 20 minutes drive away. The university city of Cambridge, Ipswich town, Norwich and the Suffolk coast can all be reached in one or two hours drive.
