With over 380 crossings a day from Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton, the Isle of Wight is the most accessible island retreat in the South of England. There is plenty of activity in the summer months and very relaxing in the winter. Brambles Chine is the perfect base to explore this wonderful island. From walking to golf, cycling to fishing the Isle of Wight offers a wide range of activities to suit everyone. With over 500 miles of cycle track, extensive bridleways and a 62-mile "The Round the Island" route is a fantastic way to explore the island. There are 9 golf courses on the island offering a challenging game to the high and the low handicap, the nearest one being at Freshwater Bay. The island offers excellent brassieres and restaurants and also plenty of pubs offering good pub grub. There are many attractions on the island for families to enjoy from adventure parks and Go-Karting to fossil hunts and fairgrounds. Brambles Chine is a self-catering site on a mainly level area close to the beach. Facilities include playing fields with a play area for young children, pitch and putt and crazy golf. There is a launderette and a small shop selling basic groceries. The nearest village is Freshwater just a 5 minute car journey.

Visitors have easy access to the countryside and are close to the gardens, orchard and walks at Afton Park, but still private and secluded. It is only a short walk (5-8 mins) to the beach at Freshwater Bay and there are many walking and cycling routes from Afton. This part of the Island is great for outdoor sports. For the more active there is good swimming, fishing and snorkelling at Freshwater Bay and the rock pools there have kept generations of children amused. There is good surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing at nearby Compton Bay. Mountain biking and horse riding over the numerous bridleways on the downs is accessible from Afton without going on a metalled road. Paragliding and hang gliding are popular on the cliffs at Afton Down. Boats can be launched from the slipway at Freshwater Bay and the yachting centre of Yarmouth is only a 5 minute drive. In fact within a mile of the Studio Apartment there are recognised areas for walking, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, snorkelling, diving, fishing, surfing, sailing, windsurfing, paragliding, kite surfing, golf, horse riding, bird watching and nude sunbathing!
