The entrance to Glean Cia-aig, a steep sided valley above the Dark Mile can be seen as a low point in these distant mountains and gives the cottage its name. Fort William and the wider Lochaber area are linked with some of the most significant, and darkest points, in Scottish history. It has some of the highest mountains, including Ben Nevis, and the access points to some of our biggest wilderness areas. More recently skiing and mountain biking at Nevis Range have become big attractions.
