Boasting fine country views 32in TV’s with surround sound and their own individual verandahs and Jacuzzi hot tubs they sit adjacent to the owners’ mixed farm in the hamlet of Mount Pleasant an ideal location for exploring the nearby Peak District National Park and the myriad delights of the counties of Staffordshire and Cheshire. A wonderfully diverse range of attractions lie within easy reach – Tutbury Castle and the National Museum of Childhood at Sudbury Hall are just 3 miles away whilst Kedleston Hall (NT) and Ashbourne a delightful and historic market town known as the gateway to glorious Dovedale in the Peak District are both about 10 miles distant as are the thrills and excitement of Alton Towers. The bustling market town Bakewell (of delicious pudding fame) and the magnificent stately homes of Chatsworth House Shugborough Hall and Haddon Hall are all within 20 miles of Oaklands Country Lodges and great days out are easily accessible at Drayton Manor Waterworld and Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest. Golf and riding are available within 2 miles and fishing is enjoyed locally. Shops 2 miles dining pub 1 mile.

This enchanting little village cottage combines all the character of old beams and exposed brickwork with smart contemporary furnishings. Set just 100 yards from the village green shop and inn serving food it makes a delightful base for exploring southern Derbyshire and the Peak District. The National Forest provides an outstandingly lovely backdrop for walking cycling and wildlife spotting whilst within a half hour’s drive Alton Towers and Drayton Manor Park offer thrilling family fun. Canal boats can be hired by the day nearby and Twycross Zoo Chatsworth Calke Abbey Haddon Kedleston and Sudbury Halls are all easily accessible. Derby is 5 miles away.

Dating from at least 1629, Upper Hall, once owned by Lord Caernarvon, is a fine example of a Grade-II*-listed half-timbered manor house. The house oozes historical character.

The main house dating from the 1700's and the stables from the 1840's are both grade II listed. The stables have been recently converted and now provide luxury accommodation called walnut Farm. They have much character, and are set around a large courtyard. Tourist attractions include Ashby Castle of Ivanhoe, Calke Abbey, Staunton Harold, Conkers, Snibston Discovery Park, Melbourne Hall, National Space Centre, Sudbury Hall, Kedleston Hall, Foremark Reservoir & Swarkestone with their water-sports facilities. Other local attractions are Donnington Park, Coors Visitor Centre and Twycross Zoo. Ashbourne (the ‘Gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District’) and the ever-popular Alton Towers, are an easy drive.
